0 A Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary

A litany is a prayer.  This following litany was approved by Pope Sixtus V in 1587.   Notice the numerous terms used to describe Mary.  For the purpose of identification and discussion, we have numbered the statements;
please take special note of the ones emboldened:

1. Lord, have mercy on us.
2. Christ have mercy on us.
3. Lord, have mercy on us.
4. Christ, hear us.
5. Christ, graciously hear us.
6. God the Father of Heaven, Have mercy on us.
7. God the Son, Redeemer of the world, Have mercy on us.
8. God the Holy Ghost, Have mercy on us.
9. Holy Trinity, one God, Have mercy on us.
10. Holy Mary, pray for us.
11. Holy Mother of God, pray for us.
12. Holy Virgin of virgins, pray for us.
13. Mother of Christ, pray for us.
14. Mother of divine grace, pray for us.
15. Mother most pure, pray for us.
16. Mother most chaste, pray for us.
17. Mother inviolate, pray for us.
18. Mother undefiled, pray for us.
19. Mother most amiable, pray for us.
20. Mother most admirable, pray for us.
21. Mother of good counsel, pray for us.
22. Mother of our Creator, pray for us.
23. Mother of our Savior, pray for us.
24. Virgin most prudent, pray for us.
25. Virgin most venerable, pray for us.
26. Virgin most renowned, pray for us.
27. Virgin most powerful, pray for us.
28. Virgin most merciful, pray for us.

30. Mirror of justice, pray for us.
31. Seat of wisdom, pray for us.

59. Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, Spare us, O Lord.
60. Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, Graciously hear us, O Lord.
61. Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, Have mercy on us.
62. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
63. Grant, we beseech Thee, O Lord God, that we Thy Servants may enjoy perpetual health of mind and body and by the glorious intercession of the Blessed Mary, ever Virgin, be delivered from present sorrow and enter into the joy of eternal happiness. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Notice that Mary is called the "most merciful", "mirror of Justice", "seat of wisdom", "cause of our joy", the "Morningstar", a "refuge for sinners", etc.  These are titles that belong to Christ.  The Roman Catholic Church has elevated Mary to a place she does not deserve. Though she is greatly blessed among women for carrying the Messiah, she is not "the seat of wisdom" nor is she the "refuge of sinners", or the "Queen of the prophets", the "Queen of the apostles," or the "Comforter of the afflicted." Jesus is the King, the Lord, and he sent the comforter, the Holy Spirit that we might have the presence of God dwelling within us.

• "You shall have no other gods before Me," (Exodus 20:3).
• "And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might," Deut. 6:5).
• "I am the Lord, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another," (Isaiah 42:8).
• "For My own sake, for My own sake, I will act; for how can My name be profaned? And My glory I will not give to another," (Isaiah 48:11).
