0 The Gospel for Roman Catholics

This paper is written in two parts.  The first explains and documents the Roman Catholic Church's position on justification.  The second part presents the true gospel in contrast to the Catholic Church's position. 

Because of the great emphasis on Sacred Tradition within the Catholic Church and because so many Roman Catholics appeal to the authority of the Roman Catholic Church, the Word of God is often placed after the Catholic Church itself in relation to authority.  Because of this, many Catholics appeal to their works, in combination with the sacrifice of Christ as a means of being justified before God.  The Council of Trent expresses this plainly:

This list of terms used by the Catholic church is brief and succinct. It should help those who are learning about Catholicism and who desire to be conversant with Catholics on their terms.

1. Absolution - the act of releasing someone from their sin by God, through the means of a priest.
2. Actual grace - God's interventions, whether at the beginning of conversion or in the course of the work of sanctification.
3. Actual sin - any sin that a person commits.
4. Annunciation - When the angel Gabriel told Mary that she was to be the mother of the Messiah.

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 1030, "All who die in Gods grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation, but after death they undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven."

0 Is the Bible Alone Sufficient for Spiritual Truth?

According to Roman Catholicism, Sacred Tradition and the Bible together provide the foundation of spiritual truth. From this combination the Catholic church has produced many doctrines which it says are true and biblical but which Protestants reject: veneration of Mary, penance, indulgence, purgatory, prayer to saints, et. al. Protestantism, however, rejects these doctrines, and Roman Catholic Sacred Tradition, and holds fast to the call "Sola Scriptura," or, "Scripture Alone." Catholics then challenge, "Is Sola Scriptura biblical?"

A classic American hymn

The lyrics to this hymn were written in 1757 by Robert Robinson, a Methodist in England, and the tune is a 19th century one by Asahel Nettleton. It is used by many Christian denominations.

2 Rahasia dibalik Lima gadis bijaksana dan lima gadis bodoh

Matius 25:1-4 "Pada waktu itu hal Kerajaan Sorga seumpama sepuluh gadis, yang mengambil pelitanya dan pergi menyongsong mempelai laki-laki. Lima di antaranya bodoh dan lima bijaksana. Gadis-gadis yang bodoh itu membawa pelitanya, tetapi tidak membawa minyak, sedangkan gadis-gadis yang bijaksana itu membawa pelitanya dan juga minyak dalam buli-buli mereka."

Kisah tentang lima gadis bijaksana dan lima gadis bodoh adalah sebuah gambaran apa yang akan terjadi di kemudian hari bahkan sampai hari kedatangan-Nya yang kedua kali melalui sebuah perumpamaan. Dalam beberapa perumpamaan lain, kita menemukan bahwa Tuhan Yesus menceritakan makna dari perumpamaan yang di ceritakannya kepada murid-murid-Nya, namun untuk kisah ini dan perumpamaan tentang akhir zaman lainnya, Tuhan Yesus tidak menceritakan maknanya, mengapa? Itu karena perumpamaan ini menceritakan sebuah rahasia  yang belum terjadi pada saat itu namun pasti akan terjadi kelak.
